WELL WHAT CAN WE SAY ABOUT THE CHORDS THAT HASN’T BEEN SAID BEFORE? NOT A LOT REALLY BUT JUST IN CASE THAT YOU WERE NOT BORN WHEN THE BAND FIRST HIT THE SCENE IN 1979 OR MAYBE YOU WERE IN A COMA? BUDDY, CHRIS, BILLY & MARTIN RELEASED THEIR DEBUT SINGLE ‘NOW IT’S GONE’ ON 14TH SEPTEMBER 1979. HEAVY TOUR DATES FOLLOWED WITH A FLURRY OF RELEASES INCLUDING THEIR SEMINAL CLASSIC ALBUM ‘SO FAR AWAY’ IN EARLY 1980 THAT PEAKED AT #30 IN THE NATIONAL ALBUM CHARTS. MORE TOURS FOLLOWED AND THEN IN NOVEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR, BILLY DEPARTED FROM THE BAND. THIS WAS A REAL BIG BLOW TO THE BAND BUT AFTER SEVERAL AUDITIONS A NEW VOCALIST WAS FOUND. THIS NEW LINE WENT ONTO RELEASE TWO MORE CLASSIC SINGLES BEFORE PLAYING THEIR LAST GIG WHICH WAS AT THE MARQUEE ON 2ND SEPTEMBER 1981. A WEEK LATER IT WAS ALL OVER …. HOW APT WAS THEIR LAST SINGLE TITLE ‘TURN AWAY AGAIN’ WITH A LINE TAKEN FROM THE SONG ‘…. I BET YOU NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD END LIKE THIS?’ FAST FORWARD 20 YEARS AND THE BAND HAD GOT BACK TOGETHER TO PLAY THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL ‘MODS MAYDAY ‘99’ ALLDAYER THAT TOOK PLACE AT THE FORUM IN LONDON. THIS GIG WAS PIVOTAL AS THEY WENT DOWN SO WELL THEY AGREED TO PLAY A FEW MORE DATES. THIS HISTORICAL NEW ALBUM CAPTURES THE ORIGINAL LINE UP OF THE BAND AT ‘ST. GEORGE'S HALL’, LIVERPOOL IN THE EASTER ON 2000. THE BAND DELIVER A PERFECT SET OF OLD GREATS INCLUDING A SPECIAL VERSION OF ’TWIST & SHOUT’ FOR ALL THE LIVERPUDLIANS IN THE AUDIENCE..
