The Schizophrenic Series pairs two PNV vinyl releases on one shiny platter they're calling a "compact disc" that's sure to take the world by storm. On this entry you have two SoCal legends, Immortals and Corpus Delicti. LA's Immortals deliver their scarcely heard 1983 demo, previously unearthed as an LP from PNV. Not much is known about Immortals, beyond a few flyer appearances, but they played a brash, hard hitting brand of punk clearly influenced by British punk imports of the time. Thick guitars and a distinctively Colin GBH style vocal delivery coat the fist pumping motorcharged rhythms on this raw demo recording. Cult SoCal death rock tinged punk outfit Corpus Delicti bring two unreleased demo sessions from 1983 (one recorded at the legendary Mystic Studios). Bargain savvy punk gourmands may recognize this group from their 1984 12" EP released on Mystic Records. Though that record is rich with an experimental spirit and a penchant for gloomy atmosphere, Corpus Delicti's early demo --presented here--show a more HB strut friendly punk energy, not unlike TSOL at their most ghoulish. This collection of seldom heard material fits Corpus Delicti squarely in the patchwork of gloomy SoCal punk that spawned such eclectic groups as 45 Grave, Kommunity FK, Voodoo Church and the like. Two 80's punk relics on one silver disc, who could ask for more?
