The best aspects of the new wave were crystallized in the raid’s first album, released in the fall of 1979. It was a tight, passionate and bright-headed punk rock record that only revealed 19-year-old Honkavaara as a great songwriter. “This isn’t art, this is rock’n’roll,” he declared on the opening track of the album - and that’s why it was such great art.
